Who this helps
Designers who need accurate surfaces and boundaries before layout.
What you’ll achieve
A unified, georeferenced project base including boundaries, imagery, and terrain meshes.
Hands‑on steps
1) KML
- PVX ribbon → Import KML; select boundary/roads/exclusions from your KML.
- Validate CRS and units.
2) Drone Data (point cloud)
- Import Drone Data; choose LAS/LAZ/E57 as applicable; set decimation for large clouds.
- Build surface with mesh spacing 0.5–30 m depending on site scale.
3) Contour Lines
- Import Contour Line; ensure index contours carry elevation attributes.
- Merge with existing surface if needed.
4) Z‑Points
- Import Z‑Points; snap to surveyed GCPs; re‑build surface.
5) Image & Elevation
- Import Image And Elevation Data; confirm georeference and pixel size; drape imagery on terrain.
How it works / checks
- PVX builds a continuous surface from points/contours using your mesh spacing.
- KML entities map to PV areas, roads, and exclusions; keep topology clean (no self‑intersections).
- For huge clouds, tile or decimate to protect AutoCAD memory.
QA & pitfalls
- Mixed CRS causes drift; standardize before import.
- Align DEM and imagery extents; clip outside parcel to keep performance.
